Recently, Acura released a teaser image of 2017 Acura MDX. This gave a preview of the SUV’s upcoming revisions. At New York Auto Show, the refreshed MDX model was finally revealed and it certainly has some exciting features on offer. Probably the most exciting news of all is an availability of a hybrid variant. The 2017 Acura MDX Hybrid will increase the performance quotient whole featuring a bold new styling. With these changes, the MDX will surely become more competitive while maintaining its legacy of being the best-selling three-row luxury SUV.
2017 Acura MDX Hybrid – Styling and Design
The bold styling of this new MDX makes it stand out in SUV market. It is a comparatively more aggressive model that current model. Up front, a hood is redesigned and it features three new body lines, thus adding a bit of flare. There is the diamond pentagon grille, which was first seen in Precision concept. In corners of the front fascia, LED fog lights are present and vents are more refined.
At the side portion, the overall profile of 2017 Acura MDX Hybrid is same as the current model, including same body line. Taillights and hatch in rear portion also have same design. Body-colored skid garnish on lower rear fascia is probably biggest change down below. Corners of rear fascia now have vertical reflectors along with two slanted exhaust outlets.
The cabin of this model might appear to be same as a present model at first glance but you will find several refinements on looking more deeply. Two display screens are still offered, one for the navigation system and other for infotainment. Certain changes have been provided to instrument cluster as well. Features like USB charging ports, auto high beam headlights and SiriusXM Radio 2.0 are offered as standard.
Interior of 2017 Acura MDX Hybrid has a three tone layout, with black finishing being used for an upper portion of door and center console. Upholstery and center of door trim panels have a brown leather finish. The roof liner, pillars, and visors all have a light gray color.
Drivetrain of 2017 Acura MDX Hybrid and Fuel Economy
Acura has revealed information on the powertrain that will be used on this model. It will feature SH-AWD powertrain, just like Acura RLX and Acura NSX. As far as combustion engine is concerned, 2017 Acura MDX Hybrid will have a 3.0-liter V6 + electric motors under its hood with 325 hp. It will have an integrated electric motor and will be paired with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission unit for sending power to front wheels. The rear axle will have twin motor.
This upcoming hybrid model will have a quite decent improvement over the non-hybrid model available nowadays. Acura claims that hybrid system will offer 325 hp of total output, making it an improvement of 35 hp over non-hybrid model. As far as fuel economy is concerned, it offers 25 mpg on city roads, 26 mpg for highway drive and 26 mpg of combined mileage.
2017 Acura MDX Hybrid – Price and Release Date
The 2017 Acura MDX Hybrid will launch by the end of 2016 with a starting price of $45,000. This price increases to as much as $60,000 for advance packages.
