2018 Acura RLX Changes

The Honda’s luxury brand doesn’t seem to settle for less as 2018 Acura RLX is already in plans. The previous RLX model is currently Acura’s flagship sedan as it delivers an advanced performance with technological improvements. Several rumors of the new model have already come up which suggests that vast improvements will be brought out in its powertrain. Doing such will definitely improve the overall performance along with its fuel economy.

Going by the rumors, the new 2018 Acura RLX will carry over the exterior dimensions of the previous model. This means that the measurements of dimensions will go as:

  • Length – 196.1 inches
  • Height – 57.7 inches
  • Width – 74.4 inches
  • Rear Track – 64.2 inches
  • Front Track – 64.3 inches
  • Wheelbase – 112.2 inches
  • Ground Clearance – 4.5 inches

As to the visual changes, the front fascia is expected to get a makeover with a redesigned grille. This, along with front bumpers, will wear new chrome inserts for a distinctive styling. The redesigned headlights with LED daytime running lights are also a part of this generational change.

The Honda will lay more focus towards luxury and convenience in the 2018 RLX’s interior cabin. Furthermore, some of the premium technological features to be offered as standard include heated seats, push button start, moonroof, tri-zone climate control and HD satellite radio. Change in styling is to be complemented by a combination of chrome and wood trims in the dashboard, center console, AC vents and also door panels. Expect leather upholstery on the seats and steering wheel to come as standard.

The 2018 Acura RLX is coming with a 3.5 liter 6 cylinder SOHC i-VTEC engine and both 6 speed automatic and manual transmission will be in options. Although the exact output figures of the engine are unknown, they are likely to surpass the current 310 HP and 272 lb-ft marks. The other one options will be 3.5-liter V6 + 3-motor hybrid. This one will make 377 HP and 341 lb -ft.

Likewise, the fuel economy numbers are definitely seeing improvements and can stay around 20 mpg city, 30 mpg highway. For the hybrid variant, mileage figures can go as 29/30 mpg for city/highway.

Competitors, Price and Release Date

The 2018 Acura RLX is set to compete against the likes of Lexus GS 350, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6 and Hyundai Genesis G80. The Acura has listed out the current generation RLX with a starting price of $54,450. Finally, expect the hiked price of 2018 model to stay around $55,950.

As the brand hasn’t come with any official announcements, experts assume that 2018 Acura RLX might be revealed during the last quarters of 2017.
