Going by spy photos expect the 2018 BMW 6-Series to be more aerodynamic and sharp. This new car can feature thick free flowing lines from front to back, exuding a more muscular stance. 1976 is the year that BMW launched its 6-series lineup of luxury grand tourers. Initially introduced as a replacement for the E9; this BMW series has grown to become a very sought after segment of the German automakers. Sold just below BMW’s flagship 7-series, this grand tourer balances luxury and performance perfectly. And this heritage will get an even more appealing upgrade with a new 2018 BMW 6-Series.

Eminent motor magazines are constantly publishing new spy shots of a BMW coupe/sedan putting in some test runs. Think tanks at BMW are yet to disclose and details about what new features their newest creation will have, but one can expect to get quite a few tweaks.

Expect to see a more drawn out pair of LED headlights that will result in a more intimidating outlook. This year’s version will feature prominent and larger front air vents; which will make the car sportier. The M versions of this luxury car can come with dedicated performance packages. These add-ons will include trendy 20-inch alloy wheels, ceramic brake fittings, and a tighter suspension setup.

Powertrain Specs

Going by popular speculations, expect the 2018 BMW 6-Series to come with quite a few engine options.

Experts claim that BMW will introduce three new turbocharged power plants for its different models, namely:-

  • 640i
  • 650i and
  • M6 versions.

The standard 640i can house a 3.0-liter engine that produces 315 HP at 330 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, the 650i will feature a 4.4-liter V8 that is capable of producing 445 HP with peak torque at around 480 lb-ft.

Expect M6 versions of these 2018 BMW 6-Series to come with a much tweaked 4.4-liter twin turbo engine that pumps out 560 HP at 500 lb-ft of torque.

The powertrain options can come in an 8-speed automatic, a seven-speed dual clutch automatic or a six-speed manual transmission. All models will come with four-wheel drive capabilities as standard.

Coming to EPA ratings, the new 6-Series can give around 17 mpg in cities and 25 mpg on highways.

Launch Date and Pricing

Although BMW is yet to finalize a release date, expect this grand tourer extraordinaire to make its market debut by 2018 end or even earlier. As far as pricing is concerned we expect 2018 BMW 6-Series to cost around $78,000 or more if customers go for performance versions.
