Honda recently unveiled the 10th generation of Civic model. Only regular Civic sedan has been seen till now and it sports a great look with several technological features. Now, everyone is waiting for the new 2018 Honda Civic Type R model.
Honda Civic is the highest performing variant of Civic lineup from Honda, a Japanese auto manufacturing company. It features a light and stiff body with upgraded brakes and chassis and specially tuned engine. It has a sporty appearance, which distinguishes it from other Honda models. One thing about Civic Type R is that it has never been released in the United States. If an upcoming model was to be launched in the US, it would restore the credibility of the brand among enthusiasts. Plus, it will be a real performance car after S2000 was discontinued after 2009.
2018 Honda Civic Type R – Design
As far as an exterior of Honda Civic Type R 2018 is concerned, it will have a Hatchback appearance. Rest of the 10th generation Civic lineup will be traditionally offered as two-door coupe and four-door sedan style. There will be certain similarities with the previous model but it will bring slight updates to front fender vents, front bumper air curtains, dual lip spoilers, side skirts, rear spoilers and lighting.
The upcoming Type R Civic model will feature triple exhaust tips, which are mounted at a center of the rear bumper. Updates will be brought to wheels, which now measure 19 inches and it should come with four-piston calipers and 13.7-inch disc at front.
Changes Brought to the Interior
10th generation Civic Type R’s interior will bear a resemblance to that of new generation Civic. However, the interior will be recognizably sportier with a dominating red color. Sporty bucket seats, aluminum inserts, and carbon fibers are a feature of the interior of 2018 Honda Civic Type R. A perfect balance of safety and comfort should be offered, with excellent drive quality. Digital read out was high up in the line of sight for 2015 model, but it should be toned down a bit in 2018 model. Center console should feature a large touchscreen with a separate heating display.
2018 Honda Civic Type R – Engine Specs and Fuel Efficiency
A 2.0-liter four cylinder engine will be used under the hood of 2018 Honda Civic Type R with turbocharging, VTEC variable valve timing, and direct fuel injection. Maximum power generated by this model should be somewhere around 300 hp and a torque of 295 lb-ft. These are the output numbers for current Type R model. A six-speed transmission unit will be used for delivering power to front tires. Allegedly, fuel economy is reduced for this upcoming model but you would hardly care about it if you get such kind of performance.
