2018 Honda Civic Hatchback – Unique Appearance

The current Civic Hatchback looks very close to its sibling coupe with minor key differences. What’s due for a change in 2018 Honda Civic is a next-gen (futuristic) front fascia. The several renders suggest that the nose will get a unique appearance with new angular cuts. As the exterior body is sporting 5 doors, the aesthetic change will take a subtle turn this time around. The LED headlights are coming as optional in the base model and standard in higher trims. Other optional exterior features might include heated side mirrors and chrome exhaust tips.

The Honda is retaining the luxury profile of interior cabin in 2018 Civic Hatchback. The car may boast new finishes, revised controls in center console and steering wheel. However, the dashboard is getting a carbon-like insert for added sophistication. Plus, expect some upgrades on the infotainment and navigation system as well. As to the seats, black cloth upholstery will come as standard, and leather will only be available on higher trims. As 2018 Civic Hatchback is targeted to be performance oriented, it is getting a tune-up fully independent suspension set-up, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and sports-tuned electronic steering.

Safety and Convenience

With each new generation model, semi-autonomous features are becoming the norm. As a part of the generational change, the Civic Hatchback will improve in safety tech. The current Honda Civic has earned a 5 star NCAP rating, and the upcoming Civic Hatchback is also expected to go for the same. The safety features that will come as standard on this new model include:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Collision Mitigation

The Honda may provide Hill Start Assist, Remote Engine Start and Side Impact Beam as optional features.

Turbocharged DOHC Engine

The 2018 Honda Civic is retaining the previously used engine which is the 1.5 liters 4 cylinder turbocharged DOHC. This engine has a direct fuel injection and is boosted by 16.5 psi of turbo pressure. The Honda might tune this engine to produce outputs of more than 174 HP and 167 lb-ft of torque.

There’s no word for another engine, and the base unit might be adapted to provide various outputs for different trims. Like the engine, the 2018 Honda Civic is borrowing both CVT and 6-speed manual transmission from its predecessors. As to fuel economy, expect the numbers to surpass 30 mpg city, 39 mpg highway and 33 mpg combined.
