2018 Kia Stinger Price, Release Date

A quick search of the new 2018 Kia Stinger shows two things: with a sprint speed of 0–60 in 4.9 seconds, it’s the quickest car Kia has ever made. And the awards it has picked up so far also shows that it’s the sexiest car Kia has ever made. Whether you’re here for performance or design, one thing is certain, the successful unveiling of its first ever performance car is ushering in a new era for the South Korean automaker.

2018 Kia Stinger – Exterior and Interior Design

You only need to take one look at the 2018 Kia Stinger to realize that if you’re in the driver’s seat, you’ll be turning heads wherever you go. Let’s get down to logistics of looks. In 2011 the Kia GT Concept was unveiled in Geneva, Switzerland. The notched windshield, metallic arc, suicide doors and the winged front end made for an attractive four door coupe, but probably not the most functional. Kia took the best of the GT Concept and plowed it into the Stinger while adding a few more distinctive features.

Climbing into the Stinger feels like stepping into another world. Dramatic, but true. The stunning satin chrome trim, aircraft-like vents, and ringed gauges made from metal creates a sense of being comfortably enclosed in a luxurious cocoon. Your cocoon also has a floating touchscreen infotainment system. Deeply contoured seats covered with super soft Nappa leather combines aesthetic and relaxation, and when the driver’s seat has adjustable bolsters, you know you’ve found a car designed for both beauty and comfort.

Interior:

Kia maintains the style and sleekness of the GT Concept. Its curved, fastback silhouette displays a quiet confidence that is perfectly set off by the commanding four oval exhaust pipes. It’s as if the car is whispering “Just watch me” in a loud crowd and everyone can hear it. The sporty five -seater draws strong comparisons to a range of BMWs; the F30 3-series and BMW 4 Gran Coupe among them, but the consensus right now is that Kia’s rear-wheel drive proportions, body lines, and longer wheelbase trump that of BMWs. If the tail-light clusters, fake bonnet vents and radar sensor in the front grille don’t immediately grab your attention, then the front and rear-hinged doors that open upward sure will. For now, colors come in red, blue and light gray.

2018 Kia Stinger – Engine and Performance

The 2018 Kia Stinger will only be available in an eight-speed automatic gearbox. While some might be holding out for the possibility of a manual release, for now, you can drool over the 2.0-liter turbo-4, with an option of 3.3-liter twin turbo V-6, both of which come with either rear or all-wheel drive. The 4-cylinder has a 255 hp and 260 pound-feet of torque. If you’re going for the V-6, you’ll get an impressive 365-hp and 376 pound-feet of torque. Kia originally planned the Stinger to clock in 0–60mph in just over 5 seconds, but this has been reduced to 4.9 seconds. It’s a slight change, but we doubt anyone will be complaining about a faster, more fuel-efficient car.
