For 2018 VW Amarok there are some modifications to the cab and the interior comfort of the basic truck. The exterior has also had a makeover, but still follows the original design at the bottom line.
2018 VW Amarok – Design Changes
The exterior is pleasing, with modernized grille featuring 2 large horizontal bars. There are small changes to the lights as fog lights have been added and daytime LED lights as well as the usual driving lights. Overall this 2018 VW Amarok is what it appears – functional and rugged.
Extras added to the exterior are also visible at the tailgate. It is possible to lock the tailgate now so as to help prevent thieves removing it and your cargo.
Nearly all of the rest of the exterior is the same as the original, bearing out the promise of this vehicle.
This is where the most modernization has happened. The steering wheel looks more like a modern steering wheel which contains access to other controls such as the infotainment screen and the driver information.
The gauges are recessed further so it is easier to see them and what they are doing. The events have changed to a rectangular shape making them also easier to work.
In the stack, a driver has more access to a larger screen which helps with the navigation. Bluetooth and USB connections are also very available without having to peer around to find them.
The dash has had a makeover with a different covering that appears to be silk and which improves the look immensely. With this, the driver and front passenger can see what is where easily, both up and down. HVAC controls are available for both front passenger and driver.
The driver does not have to waste time adjusting mirrors and craning their neck to see what they are doing. Park Pilot system takes nearly all the worry out as it relays radar signals as to what obstacles are around and how far the car is from them. This information is all displayed on the infotainment screen. A backup camera also comes with this vehicle.
2018 VW Amarok – Drivetrain
Unlike some others, there is only one drivetrain available but it has different applications. The new 3.0-liter V-6 turbodiesel has replaced the 2.0- liter 4 cylinder engine which many people thought hopeless where power was concerned. The 2018 VW Amarok can now hit 62 mph in 7.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 120 mph. There is 220 hp, enough for most things such as towing and a strong 406 pound-feet of torque, also to handle almost anything thrown at the vehicle.
